The Dendro Laboratory is primarily engaged in the examination and evaluation of wood from archaeological excavations and construction timber from historic buildings. The majority of our customers are from archaeological institutions, agencies charged with the care and preservation of monuments, and museum services.
The following services are available:

  • Dendrochronology (dating of wood samples)..
  • Morphological and anatomical analyses of the samples.
    • Analyses of single samples (artefacts, mineralized wood).
    • Analyses of a series of samples from the same site (building timber, small wood samples, charcoal).
  • Documentation of archaeological samples (recording of measurements, number of tree-rings, graphic display of cross-section).
  • Examination, evaluation and documentation of "working marks" (graphic and photographic documentation as well as evaluation of working techniques).
  • Sampling on site.
